We would like to congratulate Debra Pierce for being invited to sit on the St. Clair County Elder Justice Council. The invitation to sit on this council was from St. Clair County’s States Attorney Brendan Kelly. One of the main reasons Debra was invited to be a part of this council was due to her direct involvement in community outreach with many senior communities in St. Clair County and the surrounding areas. She has been on this committee since August 2015, and she is proud to be representing RPI Therapy Services on the council.
The purpose of the St. Clair County Elder Justice Council is to provide a forum for the development of a community-based interagency assessment of the local elder justice system, and to develop a county elder justice plan for the prevention of elder abuse, and to make recommendations to senior living communities and their decision makers, for more effectively utilizing existing community resources in supporting elders who are abused, neglected or exploited.
One of the many projects the council is working on is the development of a very informative web-site where seniors, their caregivers and family members can go for help. You can go to the website by clicking here. This website is just one of the many items on our monthly agenda the council has been working on.
The Elder Justice Council meets the second Wednesday of the month at 9:00 am at the St. Clair County Courthouse. If you are interested in attending as a guest, or for more information please feel free to contact Debra at d.pierce@rpistl.com
